Fort Massey United Church responds to the Covid-19 Pandemic:
The following information may be shared with your pew mates who do not have access with the internet. Please give them a call. Thank you.

NOW is the time to shift our thinking in how we socialize with one another if we are to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. All church activities, inside or outside the building, will be postponed or cancelled for the remainder of March, including our Sunday Services. We will update you on our plans for April.

Three areas that we are working on:
1.) How we make the Sunday Liturgy accessible - this may eventually become a virtual experience - the very least you will receive it via email in written form. We are looking for a generous person to PUTT for the purchase of a camera, or equivalent, that will allow us to offer this service (@$1000)
2.) How we do pastoral care - the minister is looking for volunteers to make regular phone contact with shut-ins, as well as assisting folk in self isolation.
3.) How we continue with our stewardship - there are several options: You may want to explore making your donations through PAR {Pre-Authorized Remittance} by downloading and completing the form here. Individuals need to be able to print off the form for completion and then to scan the completed form, including the void check, and email them to Ruth MacKenzie at [email protected] One point that also needs to be made is that one can go on PAR for just the few months that this ‘isolation’ is in play, and then cancel same and go back to your usual way of donating
Also, you can either drop off your donation by cheque through the mail slot at 5303 Tobin St., or post your offering cheque to 5303 Tobin St., Halifax, B3H 1S3 (Cheques only, please - no cash.)

The minister will continue to keep regular office hours; visitation will be limited to phone calls and emails; emergency pastoral care will be assessed on an individual basis; Kirk Session and Board meetings are cancelled until further notice; and business with staff and leadership will be limited to best practices in social distancing.
We've been "Creating Community since 1871"; may we continue to be creative in creating community.

Camerata Carolina choir from the University of Heidelberg
Singing in this time of Covid19 and personal distancing. They sang at Fort Massey on September 29, 2019.
The spoken word intro is in German (for those who understand it), but the singing is beautiful to anyone with ears to hear.

Dear dancing community,
Our intention for the coming weeks will be to support the efforts to "flatten the curve" together with all of you. Thus we are suspending our regular tango classes and practica for the time being. We will be back as soon as possible, but no-one knows when that will be... please stay tuned!
We miss you all - keep dancing wherever you can and take very good care of your health and your loved ones.
Yours, Martina & Lorne
