The United Church Women

Fort Massey United Church Women (UCW) groups have been in existence since 1962. The Fort Massey UCW meets regularly for fellowship, and participates in the different activities within the church.

The UCW have four major fund-raising activities a year: The Valentine Tea, Spring Flea Market, Fall Flea Market and the Christmas Tea and Sale. Funds raised at these events make vital contributions to the life and work of Fort Massey, and the local community. Some of the community groups that are recipients of the Fort Massey UCW fundraising are: Brunswick Street United Church Program, Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, Salvation Army, Stepping Stone and Arthur Kidston Camp.

The Fort Massey UCW is active in outreach in Halifax. They provide hot casseroles for Hope Cottage, which is a charitable organization that provides meals to those can't afford them. Showers are also held for Adsum House, to provide toiletries and other supplies for those women and children who are finding shelter there.

Our local church family is also supported by UCW activities. This includes providing flowers in the sanctuary and refreshments for Coffee and Conversation times following worship.
